Nepal come from behind to win in Dongducheon

Nepal won the 2026 동두천 다문화 국제축구대회, coming from behind to beat Cameroon in the final at 동두천종합운동장 on Sunday 6 September. Eighteen teams from fourteen countries played it, from a 10:00 first whistle to the 18:00 final. Myanmar entered three sides, Thailand and DR Congo two each, alongside Cambodia, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Vietnam, Nepal, Uganda, Indonesia, Mali, South Africa, Ghana and Cameroon.

The tournament is hosted by 동두천시체육회 and run on the day by 동두천시축구협회 and the city's referees' committee. Mayor 박형덕 opened it, writing afterwards that "언어는 달라도, 축구를 향한 열정은 같았습니다" — the languages differ, the appetite for football does not.

How it was played

A straight knockout. Two preliminary ties cut the field from eighteen to sixteen, then four rounds across three pitches running simultaneously. Eleven a side, no age limit, five substitutes, halves of 25 minutes either side of a ten-minute break. There is no extra time in any round: a draw goes straight to penalties. Yellow cards accumulate as far as the quarter-finals and reset for the semi-finals. The champion takes 1,200,000 KRW and the trophy, the runner-up 700,000 KRW, and the player of the tournament 100,000 KRW and a trophy of their own.

How Nepal got there

동두천시 published the result on 8 September and 매일일보, 중부일보, STN 스포츠, 뉴스티앤티 and 이뉴스투데이 carried it in the same wording: Nepal and Cameroon reached the final, and Nepal won it. STN 스포츠 alone adds how — a 역전승, a comeback, so Cameroon led at some point. No scoreline was given, and neither was a third place or a player of the tournament.

Naming the two finalists settles most of the bracket, because the 대진표 gives each of them only one route. Nepal came through the 11:00 Round of 16 at the main stadium, the 14:00 quarter-final and the 16:30 semi-final against Thailand A. Cameroon came through the 12:00 Round of 16 on Field B, the 14:00 quarter-final and the 16:30 semi-final on the same pitch. Each of those ties is recorded here as an outcome without a score, with a note on the match saying how the winner is known.

One real scoreline exists for the whole day: Shwe Nyar Myay FC, the Myanmar B side, beat Uganda 1-0 in the Round of 16 on Field A. They streamed both halves themselves and captioned each one, so the tie was goalless at the break and settled after it. Thailand A knocked them out in the quarter-final and lost to Nepal in the last four.

Four ties on the far side of the draw were never reported at all: both preliminaries, South Africa against Ghana, Thailand B against DR Congo Dekok, and the quarter-final those feed. The organisers publish no live table and no score feed. Where a score does surface, it will be added here and on the bracket.
