How KAFCON started
From a single friendly to the biggest African football day in Korea — the story of the Korea Africa Cup of Nations.

The Korea Africa Cup of Nations began in 2022 as a way to bring the African diaspora in South Korea together on one pitch, for one day. Organised by Afro Entertainment and its founder Edmond Atemnkeng, the first edition in Seoul drew nations from across the continent.
“Football can serve as a diplomatic bridge,” is the line the organisers keep coming back to. Four editions on, KAFCON is the biggest African football tournament in Korea.
